These methods will work on brown staining with tannins, such as hot chocolate, teas, coffee and other brown marking or staining.

How To Remove Fresh (& Wet) Coffee & Tea Stains:

The key to removing coffee stains is to act fast and avoid rubbing the area, which could worsen the stain. Here are the steps you need to take:

1. Blot the area with a clean dishcloth or kitchen roll to absorb as much spilt liquid as possible.

2. Treat the area with clean warm water using a spray bottle or wet sponge, being careful not to use water that is not too hot as it could set the stain in. Blot up the excess liquid with a clean cloth or kitchen roll.

3. To remove the tea or coffee stain, use Dirtbusters Tea & Coffee Stain Remover Spray. Always test the product in a small area first. Apply directly to the stain and blot with a wet cloth or towel to remove staining. Do not scrub or rub the stain as this could damage the fabric fibres.

4. For stubborn stains, allow to work for 5-10 minutes before extracting.  

5. Rinse the treated area with clean water and blot excess moisture.

6. Finally, leave the area to dry completely.

7. Repeat steps 3-6 if the staining is still visible

How To Remove Old Coffee & Tea Stains:

Dried out coffee & tea stains are harder to remove, but following the below steps with an appropriate brown stain remover, it is still possible to completely remove the staining from your carpets & upholstery.

1. Treat the area with clean warm water using a spray bottle or wet sponge, being careful not to use water that is too hot as it could set the stain in. Blot up the excess liquid with a clean cloth or kitchen roll.

5. If the stain is still present, apply a Pre Spray (Pre Spray No.1 for upholstery and No.2 for all carpet types) all over the area you are cleaning, agitate with a soft carpet brush.
